The King's Irregular Lancers are a modern unit of the Federal Defence Union which has restored the name of a decorated regiment from ancient times when Mannar was a monarchy.
Originally raised as a partisan milita in support of the king, the Lancers served with distinction during the Raspa Wars and was granted royal colours. Nonetheless, the new regiment retained the 'irregulars' designation as a mark of honour. The unit was formally disbanded upon the Mannar's adoption of democracy and membership of the Gallente Federation.
The unit flag has a unicorn rampant upon a ribbon of black and ochre, the royal colours of the Mannar Kingdom. The unicorn argent symbolises the flying cavaliers who turned battles with their famous lances and lightning charges.
The Lancers are most often found in the border wars with the Caldari, and frequently fly the Incursus-class frigates that sport the famous lances of old.
