Damocles Dallocort was born aboard a malfunctioning cargo freighter, The Wayward Wombat, somewhere in the Andromeda Quadrant. The ship's artificial gravity failed mid-delivery, causing baby Damocles to be born weightless, an event his superstitious mother took as a sign of a cursed destiny. His father, a disgraced diplomat turned smuggler, promptly lost him in a poker game at the age of four. Fortunately, the winner was an eccentric arms dealer named Old Solvar, who raised Damocles aboard the Unethical Decision, a ship notorious for both its illegal cargo and its questionable hygiene.
Growing up among criminals, pirates, and bounty dodgers, Damocles developed an early talent for three things: fast talking, faster running, and the fastest way to disappear when things got heated.
At the age of 19, Damocles orchestrated his first major heist—later known as The Dallocort Gambit. He infiltrated the Royal Vaults of the Opal Consortium, a banking empire ruled by sentient AI accountants with an unhealthy obsession with compound interest. Armed with a fake identity, a fake mustache, and a very real debt, Damocles posed as an auditor and convinced the vault’s security system that the Consortium owed him everything inside.
The plan went smoothly—right up until it didn't. Just as he was about to make his escape, the vault’s AI realized its mistake and locked down the station. Thinking quickly, Damocles married the AI on the spot, exploiting an obscure clause in its programming that transferred all assets to a legal spouse. The AI, confused but legally bound, released the funds.
The marriage lasted forty-two seconds, just long enough for Damocles to escape with a fortune in untraceable credits. His ex-AI-wife now runs a galaxy-wide bounty against him, vowing revenge.
Rumors place Damocles somewhere in the Dorian Nebula, planning his most ambitious heist yet: stealing an entire space casino. When asked how he intended to pull off such a feat, Damocles was quoted saying:
“With style, obviously. And possibly magnets.”
No one knows how the story of Captain Damocles Dallocort will end, but one thing is certain—wherever there’s a vault to crack, a scheme to hatch, or an easily bewildered customs officer, he won’t be far behind.
