In many ways, violence has a bad reputation.
If you met a man, and he told you he loved violence, you would think he was insane.
But every society that has ever existed has done so on a foundation of being able to produce sufficient violence to secure resources and protect its populace.
Some of these societies have been good, others bad, but the ones that were not prepared to use violence in defence of their resources and their way of life have ceased to exist.
Humans are, i think, by nature a fundamentally violent animal. We are also a social animal, and out of a need to practice and also not kill or maim our valuable fellow humans, we play games of violence. Cave painting depicting wrestling date back over 17,000 years. Boxing, wrestling, jousting, chess and countless other games and sports give us an opportunity to test ourselves, To sharpen our mettle.
And every time in my life that i have stepped on a mat, or arranged the chess pieces on a board, or flown into local and seen a sea of red i think.....
