Millennia ago, a religious order was on the cusp of changing the universe......forever. Working from a temple on a barren planet, the order worked tirelessly under the guidance of C'lar, one of the last clerics from the Callarnon tribe. Centuries were spent searching the known universe for ancient relics of both a scientific and religious nature.
The breakthrough came in what C'lar called the "age of darkness". He had discovered a way to transverse great distances in the universe "via dark" or the "nothingness" as it was called among the members of the order.
Shortly after C'lar's discovery, the order was betrayed by one of their own. A cleric by the name of P'van methodically hunted down each member of the order........and killed them until he was the last surviving member. P'van himself disappeared; along with the new technology. The history and knowledge of the order faded away until nothing remained except whispers and legends throughout the far reaches of the universe.
The order of Via Sacra Obscura had itself became "nothingness".
Millennia went by until an ancient text was discovered by an explorer. The unknown author of the text claimed to know what had happened to P'van and the ancient technology that he killed to possess. The author claims that C'lar had sensed that one of their own was killing off the order in an attempt to gain possession of the new travel technology. Unknown to P'van, C'lar had removed a component from the device the order had invented. When P'van attempted to use the device for the first time, the results were catastrophic. The device spawned a chain reaction in the "nothingness" which caused pockets of the "nothingness" to breach known space. Wormhole connections in areas where the "nothingness" breached thru were also affected. The massive gravitational changes caused the wormholes to shatter. The author of the text claims his knowledge of these events came from P'van himself. The ancient text was considered a forgery by the scientific community, but recently, rumors have been growing that the "nothingness" sounds alot like abyssal deadspace and that the technology invented by C'lar could have been based upon filament technology. Another rumor being whispered is that the unknown author of the ancient text is a cleric that left the order before P'van was able to kill him; and that the cleric was from the Peruna Clade entity.
