Ferra grew up on an old station within State space, selcomd used as a staging area. The station saw little use and as such was often left to it's own devices. After getting involved in gang-activity and in too deep, her last friend there managed to strike a deal ensuring her progression to the stars as a capsuleer. Quick to escape State space, she fell into the hands of KSCS, where she was shown the gratitude and just cause of the Matari, eventually ending up among their ranks, fighting for their freedom and to burn all the Amarrian oppressors who'd seek to enslave other's by force.
