It is ordinary behaviour when the efficient half eats the less efficient half and grows stronger. War is just a violent way of doing what half the people do calmly in peacetime: using the other half for food, heat, machinery, and sexual pleasure. Man is the pie that bakes and eats himself, and the recipe is separation.
There is no feasible excuse for what are, for what we have made of ourselves. We have chosen to put profits before people, money before morality, dividends before decency, fanaticism before fairness, and our own trivial comforts before the unspeakable agonies of others.
Just as predatory animals follow a similar general design and behave in similar ways, so do organizations, especially those in competition with one another, they must follow certain design principles if they are to succeed and prevail.
