His parents were engineers, known for their exceptional skills in shipbuilding - a heritage that could be traced back through countless generations.

From an early age, Rufus displayed an unusual acumen for understanding complex systems. He could take apart and reassemble the simplest gadget to the most complex machinery. However, his real passion lay with the stars. Looking up into the vastness of the cosmos, Rufus couldn't help but dream of traveling amongst the celestial bodies.

As soon as he was old enough, Rufus enlisted with the Republic Fleet. His excellent technical skills saw him swiftly rise through the ranks, ultimately serving as a ship engineer for the Republic's front-line battleships. His reputation for being able to tweak ship systems to their maximum efficiency became legendary, but Rufus yearned for more.

Tragedy struck when a routine patrol mission went awry. A surprise attack by Amarr slavers led to a brutal engagement. The ship Rufus was on took heavy damage. Despite his best efforts to keep the ship operational, the hull integrity eventually gave out. While the evacuation was successful, the captain and many crew members were captured, and Rufus could not forget the sight of his comrades being taken away.

Haunted by survivor's guilt, Rufus resigned his position in the fleet. He started dedicating his time to building and modifying his own vessels, aiming to create a ship capable of taking on the Amarr and rescuing his lost comrades.

This quest led him to a life of Capsuleering. His inherent skillset and relentless determination were well suited to the brutal, mercurial life of a Capsuleer. Rufus quickly earned the attention of powerful entities, both friendly and otherwise. However, his focus never wavered. His every action, every battle fought, and every alliance forged was aimed towards one goal: freeing his friends from the clutches of the Amarr Empire.
