Born and raised on Amsen IX, the daughter of highly spiritual parents, Annalyssa was taught about faith and religion from an early age. She quickly developed her own appreciation of the night sky and all the wonders it held, which led to an early interest in science and technology. She dreamed of one day traveling among the stars. As a teenager, her drive to abandon her father's beliefs and her open defiance of his wishes to stay on Amsen forced her to leave her home. The day her father excommunicated her was brutal. She wasn't even allowed to hug her mother before being sent away. She panhandled on the streets for a time, but her beauty drew the attention of men, and she soon found herself married to a wealthy businessman. He recognized her intelligence and payed to send her to the most elite schools on Amsen. She graduated as the Valedictorian of her class and began working towards her dreams. Annalyssa's determination threatened her husband's control over her, and he grew jealous and threatening towards her. Once she decided to leave him, but he threatened to have her parents killed if she did. One night, her husband drank himself into a rage. He came home and raped Annalyssa! When he had passed out, Annalyssa killed him with a sword that was above their fireplace. She was charged with involuntary manslaughter, and sentenced to 10 years in prison because or her dead husband's influence. While in jail she gave birth to a daughter, whom she named Lola. The baby girl was given to her parents to raise while she served out her sentence. Two months before her release from prison, pirates attacked her hometown because an enemy of theirs was known to be hiding out. A man from the town tried to get the pirates to leave by reasoning with them. That man was Annalyssa's father. The pirate leader, Jorek, was enraged someone would challenge him. He ordered Annalyssa's mother and father killed, and kidnapped Lola. Annalyssa vowed to find Jorek and make him pay with his life.
