Akhan Mabata, a young graduate from Caldari School of Applied Knowledge and a fresh employee of Deep Core Mining Inc, was asking himself this question since visited a strange deadspace site. As a young capsuler he wanted earn some ISK to buy first medical clone. That day his task was 'deep scanning for underused and profitable areas'. Long sentence but it was just searching for possible new mining sites for his corp.After a couple first surveys he picked up a strong signal. In his duties was also to report on other mining corps movement and equipment. 'A bit of spying' that was what corp officers call this. He reported to dispatch that is going to check another corp miners activity. After warping he looked around. In this particular point of space there was nothing. No asteroids, no other miners.
Just nothing.
He wanted to call back dispatch to report that it was something with scanning modules, some uncalibration or just random space interference. Only thing he was able to hear was static noises. After a few failed attempts to reach dispatch he realised that his own corp usual radio chatter was missing. He was more and more concerned.
At that moment he decided to instantly back to corp HQ. He set a destination but the warp driver was totally non responding. He checked the virtual board and there was general warp engine malfunction info. He started to panic a little. Suddenly all four fronts search lights turned off. Then the inside lights and other illuminations went dark. The CPU voice and feed was reporting loads of errors, some of them Akhan heard for the first time. Last of them was terrifying.
'Power grid offline, ejection safeguards lifted, preparing to inject backup capsule power reserves in case of internal ship shell malfunction, uninterruptible power supply will last for 120 sec, general blank distress call send.'

'Power injection to capsule attempt'
