Kanly Xent was born on a burning warship during the final battle of the third Wirriki Deathknight incursion. While his father Halad Xent lay dying after leading the rear guard action that ultimately resulted in repelling the invasion, and in which he almost single-handedly brought about the death of Kiridar-Emperor Battan "Blood Bather" T'uatha, Kanly's mother Kinae stood over her husband's body with her still-wet baby in her arms and killed the last of the traitorous Gith'hai mercenaries who had attacked the ship at the instigation of Jodan H'rax "The Forever-Abhorred." To honor her courage and Halad's devotion to the Caldari State the family name was changed to Xentrelladan, which epithet translates as "lofty man" or "great citizen." His first name reflects his mother's fury at the betrayal of H'rax, who was not only deep in the counsel of the Caldari leadership, but also a trusted family friend.
