Name Backstory
After the initial invention of space flight, ethnic groups were largely eliminated through interbreeding, both physical and cultural. Certain groups ensured they kept their culture alive for a considerable time through a collection of oral, written and electronically recorded traditions, and a reluctance to mingle outside their own group.

The early Serian settlers took the name of their place of birth (or residence) within Seria as one of their names in their new homes. This became a stand-in for the family name in many cases, with the story of the original homeland and the name itself passed on from generation. Among those chosen to explore New Eden, the names of the source areas of the rivers of Seria were taken as home names - Tara, Andra, Zana. Capsuleers choose one of these societies to associate themselves with during the training process.
